BAR & BAT MITZVAH TWIN PROGRAM

Are you celebrating your upcoming bar or bat mitzvah this year? Double the joy and meaning of this important milestone by sponsoring a “twin,” an underprivileged boy or girl in Rostov who, like you, is preparing for their big day.

A bar or bat mitzvah is an unforgettable experience for Jewish kids around the world.

But sadly, in Rostov, most of our youth come from families that cannot afford the party, the food, or the fun. 

Since the practice of Judaism was outlawed in Russia for 70 years, most young Jews here know very little about their traditions and heritage.

As a result, many of our 12- and 13-year-old boys and girls don't have the same opportunities as you do. Not only on their bar or bat mitzvah day, but all year long—like going to summer camp with friends, participating in synagogue events and programs, and even having warm clothes for the winter and enough food to eat.

Here's how it works

  • Choose a package

    Speak to your parent(s) and decide which of these packages to choose.

  • Raise the money

    See the list we’ve compiled below for some cool ideas on how to raise funds for your twin!

  • Change a kid's life

    You'll get a certificate recognizing your support & a photo of your “‘twin”’ on their special day.

  • Come for a visit!

    Join us for a memorable visit, meet others your age, and participate in an exciting program!

  • Make delicious cakes, cookies, and desserts and sell 'em to family, friends, or even on the school bus! When you’ve sold enough goodies, count up the sales and make your generous donation online.

  • Gather the neighborhood kids and organize a Sunday Funday program for a few hours at your house, filled with cool crafts, games, and snacks. Have their parents purchase tickets and raffle off a few prizes at the end!

  • Invite your friends over for an awesome movie night with popcorn, snacks, and even glow-in-the-dark prizes! Tell them all about your mitzvah twin and invite them to donate cash to help support you in your endeavor!

  • Ask friends and family to sponsor you by pledging an amount per lap or yard that you run or swim. Then get your friends in on the fun—gather everyone together at the pool or park and run or swim until you drop!

  • Make a sports game event one evening. Invite a bunch of your friends to join—but they’ll have to pay an entrance fee to create a Jackpot. After the game, the winning team splits half the pot and you donate the rest!
